Our flagship in-school program, Classical Kids, reaches 10,000+ students annually in more than 70 elementary and middle schools in the Adirondack, Saratoga, and Capital Regions. The program brings professional dancers and musicians into schools for an interactive assembly that introduces students to their art forms, teaches them about an upcoming performance at SPAC, and offers each student free tickets to a selected performance during SPAC’s summer classical season. All students that complete the program receive a free SPAC Student Lawn Pass.

What is a SPAC Student Lawn Pass?

A SPAC Student Lawn Pass grants the student, and an accompanying adult, free lawn admission to ballet and orchestra performances in the SPAC amphitheater (see exclusions below) until their projected year of graduation from High School.

When using your pass, there is no need to visit the SPAC box office. Simply walk right up to an entry gate before a ballet or orchestra performance (specified above), show the gate attendants your pass, and they will admit you onto the SPAC grounds.

FAQ’s

When will my student receive their SPAC Student Lawn Pass after attending the designated summer performance at SPAC?

All SPAC Student Lawn Passes will be mailed to eligible students in the fall. If you haven’t received your Student Lawn Pass by Thanksgiving, please reach out to education@spac.org

What steps does my child need to take in order to earn a Student Lawn Pass?

In order to be eligible for a pass, students must participate in the Classical Kids interactive school performance (offered in March-June), sign up for their free ticket(s) to the designated summer performance at SPAC, and attend the performance.

My child participated in the interactive school performance and attended the summer performance at SPAC. When and how do I receive my Student Lawn Pass?

Passes are created and mailed to your home address during the fall season following the summer that your student attended the SPAC performance. Students will then be able to use their passes for the first time to attend New York City Ballet and Philadelphia Orchestra performances for free during the following summer season at SPAC.

My child’s school does not participate in the Classical Kids program. Can they still participate?

Unfortunately, your child’s school needs to be a participant in the Classical Kids program for them to participate and earn a SPAC Student Lawn Pass. We encourage parents and students to spread the word to teachers and school administrators and ask them to contact our Education Department to see if Classical Kids can be offered at their school.

I signed up for tickets to one of the SPAC performances. How do I receive my tickets for the performance?

Tickets will be mailed to you by the SPAC box office. If you don’t receive your tickets at least two weeks prior to the performance date, please contact the SPAC Box Office.

I am a parent of a child participating in the Classical Kids program. Can I attend the SPAC performance with my child?

Yes, SPAC currently offers up to two free tickets (one for the student and one for an accompanying adult) as well as additional discounted tickets for immediate family members.
