Arts Education Internship

 

 

Job Description:

The Arts Education intern will work alongside the Vice President of Education and other members of the Education Department to support SPAC’s in-school programming as well as programming provided at the SPAC School of the Arts and at the SPAC Amphitheatre & Grounds. The education department works directly with all departments, including programming, marketing, communications, development, operations, and finance. The intern will, therefore, build experience within a wide range of non-profit operations, including programming, administration, and management; development and fundraising for non-profits; design and implementation of arts education curriculums and creation of educational materials; marketing and promotion for educational programming.

 

Qualifications:

Undergraduate student with an interest in the arts, arts education, and non-profit administration. Must have excellent verbal, written and organization skills, reliable transportation, can do attitude, ability to work nights/weekends, comfort in speaking in front of large groups of all ages, and possess the ability and willingness to multitask and work under a deadline. Prior experience working with children (in any capacity) is a plus. Applicants who practice and/or have a strong passion for an art form (Drama, Music, Dance, Fine Art, etc.) are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook required.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Supporting the planning and execution of education activities, events, and programs both on-site and off-site under supervision of the Vice President of Education, Director of Arts in Education & Community Programs, and Director of the SPAC School of the Arts
  • Writing and proofing educational, marketing, and public relations materials for education events and programs, as well as researching content for said materials
  • Creating and implementing post-program surveys and analyses
  • Arranging and managing transportation, accommodations, meals, etc. for visiting companies, solo artists, teaching artists and program participants
  • Assisting with education-related fundraising initiatives, including grant-writing as well as corporate and individual donor cultivation
