Position Summary
The Parking Attendant is often the first point of contact for guests arriving at SPAC and plays a key role in setting the tone for the event experience. This position supports safe and efficient arrival by directing traffic, managing parking areas, and protecting access to reserved lots. Parking Attendants are expected to remain alert, professional, and guest-focused while working in a fast-paced, outdoor environment to ensure a smooth and welcoming arrival for all guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet guests arriving for SPAC events and direct them to the appropriate parking area.
- Monitor parking areas that are reserved; allow access only to those who are permitted.
- Manage traffic flow to ensure safe and efficient entry, parking, and pedestrian movement.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all guests arriving to the SPAC grounds.
- Always maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, even in high‑pressure or fast‑paced situations.
- Set up / tear down traffic-control equipment (cones, signs, barricades etc.) to allow for proper traffic flow during ingress and egress.
- Communicate with management and team members via radio to coordinate lot availability and traffic patterns.
- Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
- Practice professional concert and radio etiquette.
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

- Follow directions while working independently or with a small team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, providing clear instructions.
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to resolve minor disagreements.
- Ability to learn venue layout and operating guidelines.
- Situational awareness and the ability to identify and respond to safety concerns quickly.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age with appropriate documentation to work in NYS.
- Previous customer service, event operations, or traffic-control experience is preferred but not required.
Schedule
- As SPAC is a performing art venue with events in the evening and on weekends, employees must be available to work evenings (at times overnight shifts), holidays, and weekends during our Event Season from late May to early September.
- Employees are expected to have reliable transportation to be able to work scheduled shifts. Shift times that will vary based on each scheduled event.
- While employees may not be required to be available for all shifts, employees are expected to be available and work regularly throughout the season.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop or crouch.
- The employee frequently is required to stand for prolonged periods and climb stairs or balance.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions including rain, humidity, wind, heat and/or cold.
