Position Summary
The Gate Attendant is a front-line representative of SPAC, responsible for creating a smooth and welcoming arrival experience for all guests. This role focuses on ticket verification, guiding guests through entry, and providing assistance as needed, including supporting guests with limited mobility. Gate Attendants are expected to remain attentive, courteous, and calm in high-volume event environments while helping maintain safe, orderly access to the venue.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Scan and verifies guests’ tickets to allow entry.
- Greet guests arriving for SPAC events.
- Drive and assist guests from the gate to their seating area via courtesy cart shuttles.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all guests on the SPAC grounds.
- Calmly assist with disputes regarding tickets and seats.
- Distribute programs and other literature to guests on premises.
- Assist with additional access control measures when needed.
- Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
- Practice professional concert and radio etiquette.
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Follow directions while working independently or with a small team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to resolve minor disagreements.
- Ability to learn venue layout and operating guidelines.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Previous customer service, event operations, or ticketing experience is preferred but not required.
Schedule
- As SPAC is a performing art venue with events in the daytime, evening and on weekends, employees must be available to work evenings (at times overnight shifts), holidays, and weekends during our Event Season from late May to early September.
- Employees are expected to have reliable transportation to be able to work scheduled shifts. Shift times that will vary based on each scheduled event.
- While employees may not be required to be available for all shifts, employees are expected to be available and work regularly throughout the season.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop or crouch; physically support others with limited mobility; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand for prolonged periods and climb stairs or balance.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
