Position Summary

SPAC Cleaning Staff play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests throughout the event lifecycle. This position supports venue readiness before, during, and after events by ensuring facilities and public spaces are well maintained and presentable. Cleaning Staff contribute directly to a positive guest experience and smooth operations by working efficiently, remaining attentive to conditions on the grounds, and responding as needed during high-traffic events.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean, stock, and supply designated facility locations – restrooms, event spaces, offices, and venue grounds.
  • Respond to cleaning needs during events, including spills, restroom maintenance, and high‑traffic area upkeep.
  • Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets.
  • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, and showers.
  • Restock toilet paper, paper towels, soap, sanitizer, etc. and ensure all areas remain tidy throughout events.
  • Clean mirrors and windows.
  • Set up and empty trash and recycling receptacles before, during, and after events.
  • Carry out deep cleaning tasks and special projects when directed.
  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies, safety hazards, or needs for repairs.
  • Ensure supply rooms are fully stocked and maintained.
  • Practice professional concert and radio etiquette.
  • Customer Service – provide guests with information or directions when asked; or help them find other staff who can assist them with what they need.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills; ability to interact professionally with guests and staff.
  • Able to work as a team and independently.
  • Able to follow oral and written directions.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine cleaning.
  • Ability to interact with staff, guests, and vendors, at SPAC while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience cleaning, janitorial or custodial experience is preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

 

Schedule

  • As SPAC is a performing art venue with events in the daytime, evening and on weekends, employees must be available to work evenings (at times overnight shifts), holidays, and weekends during our Event Season from April to October.
  • Employees are expected to have reliable transportation to be able to work scheduled shifts. Shift times that will vary based on each scheduled event.
  • While employees may not be required to be available for all shifts, employees are expected to be available and work regularly throughout the season.

 

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop or crouch.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand for prolonged periods and climb stairs or balance.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

Work Environment

  • The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions including rain, humidity, wind, heat and/or cold.
