August 2 – August 16

August features an “Out of this World” festival that explores the nexus between art and cosmos.  The Festival takes off with the Orchestra’s performance of The Planets — An HD Odyssey — combining spectacular NASA space footage with Holst’s musical imagining of the cosmos – and continues on its path with Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert. Throughout this new “festival within a festival,” audiences will be invited to star gaze through telescopes around the reflecting pool, take part in a new speaker series led by thought-provoking writers and scientists, experience virtual reality space expeditions and enjoy a special chamber concert for children that explores the harmony and interplay between Einstein’s ideas and Mozart’s music.
