Pre-Performance Talk

Jan Lisiecki, pianist

FridayAugust 167:00pm

Jan Lisiecki is a 23-year-old musician who already has a lot under his belt: in 2016 he made his Carnegie Hall debut, at 15 years of age he was signed as an exclusive Deutsche Grammophone artist, and at the age of 14 he received international attention when the Fryderyk Chopin Institute issued a recording of Chopin’s piano concertos, performed live by the then 13-year-old Jan.  Mr. Lisiecki’s career has developed in the company of some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Orchestre de Paris, New York Philharmonic, and BBC Symphony, and at venues such as Suntory Hall, the Kennedy, Lincoln, and Barbican Centres, and Royal Albert Hall. He has cultivated relationships with prominent conductors including Sir Antonio Pappano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Daniel Harding, and Pinchas Zukerman.  His introspective and mature countenance drives him to perform works in a way that aims to be as close to original as possible and elicit the sense that the concert hall is, in his words “…like going into a sanctuary. You’re there to have a moment of reflection, hopefully leaving feeling different, refreshed and inspired.”
