Pre-Performance Talk

Silas Farley, Corps de Ballet dancer, NYCB

ThursdayJuly 181:00pm

In 2013 Mr.  Farley deferred a college education at Harvard University to pursue his passion for dance and New York City Ballet in particular. He was accepted into NYCB’s official school, the School of American Ballet when he was 14 years old. While a student he displayed a talent for choreography and was asked to choreograph for student workshops and Gala events. He is the recipient of the prestigious Mae L. Wien Award (2012) and Lincoln Center’s Martin E. Segal Award (2015). His interest in dance scholarship earned him the “Inaugural Jerome Robbins Dance Division Fellow” at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Mr. Farley has served as a Teaching Fellow on SAB’s faculty since January 2016. Most recently he was commissioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to create a dance within their galleries. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/07/arts/dance/silas-farley-metarts-live-metropolitan-museum.html
